The Spark: Rethinking a Chair

Before YIVKE was born, our founder David —like many Canadian professionals—spent countless hours seated at a desk.
The aches, stiffness, and fatigue from long sitting made him question:

Why are most office chairs either lacking in support or poor in breathability, leaving you more uncomfortable the longer you sit?

He set out to create a chair tailored to the lifestyle and working habits of Canadians—one that delivers lasting support while allowing your body to breathe freely.

Humble Beginnings in a Small Studio

The journey began in a tiny 20-square-meter design studio in downtown Toronto.
No huge investment. No massive team. Just a small group of passionate designers and engineers who spent six months developing the very first YIVKE chair.

Every detail was tested, adjusted, and retested—over and over again.

From Trials to Perfection

When the first prototypes arrived, we didn’t rush to production.
Instead, we gave them to friends and local small businesses for real-world testing.
The feedback was invaluable, inspiring 17 key design improvements that made the chair more comfortable, durable, and versatile.
